Fall color is steadily spreading across southern and Midcoast Maine, though the region hasn’t yet reached its peak, according to the latest foliage report from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.
Coastal areas from Kittery and Kennebunkport through Portland and up to Camden are seeing moderate color change, the report says. Leaf drop remains low throughout the region, so trees are still holding most of their leaves. A nor’easter brought rain to the state late last month but didn’t knock down the foliage.
The coast typically peaks later than the rest of the state, giving southern and Midcoast leaf peepers still have time ahead to catch the best of the season.
